Peak performance is the top criteria for the engineers and technicians at S&S, which leads to products that exceed requirements by far. Such is the case for the first-generation S&S 10mm CP3 pump, which is highly modified for high RPM efficiency, yet requires precise calibration. The high RPM efficiency does not benefit the vast majority of diesel engines, and ECU calibration can be challenging for all, save a few.
Duramax CP3 pumps are built from brand new Bosch LBZ-based pumps, and then modified to suit various fueling requirements from 500 to 1,400 horsepower in a single pump configuration. Every S&S CP3 pump will have a data sheet in the box that is crucial for proper calibration.
S&S CP3 pumps are internally modified, besides just increasing displacement, to efficiently deliver fuel well beyond the peak RPM of most diesel engines. Why? Some competition engines need high-rpm fueling, so S&S makes it a standard. The competition CP3 pumps might not be for everyone, but they're a wise choice for those who want the best... and the data above backs it up.
The standard S&S 10mm CP3 is very efficient at the peak operating RPM of most diesel engines, and will be the pump of choice for nearly all applications. The new S&S 10mm High Speed CP3 is an improvement over the original, and is for the select few that push the envelope.
