SoCal Diesel custom ground camshafts are designed to maximize performance by improving airflow and optimizing valve events for specific build goals. The camshaft is one of the most important parts of your Duramax engine’s breathing characteristics, and choosing the correct profile makes a major difference in turbo spool, power, and RPM range.
The SoCal 9100 cam is designed for extreme Duramax builds running large single turbos, or high-end twin/compound setups. This is a purpose-built high RPM cam intended for racing and pulling applications — not towing.

Alternative Fire Order (Crankshaft Longevity Upgrade)
SoCal Diesel pioneered the Alternative Firing Order camshaft option for the Duramax platform to help extend crankshaft life under extreme use.
The OEM Duramax firing order ends with cylinder 3 and begins with cylinders 1 and 2 — creating a 3–1–2 hit to the crankshaft. Duramax cranks often fail behind the first rod throw near the second main journal, which is where this stress stacks up.
By moving cylinders 3, 1, and 2 away from each other, the alternate firing order spreads the load across the crankshaft and helps it survive more abuse in high horsepower, high RPM applications.
To run alternate fire, a few injector pins must be swapped so the ECM commands the correct cylinders. Wiring diagrams and instructions are included with every purchase.
